To Members and Friends of the
Idaho Aviation Hall of Fame and Idaho Aviation Museum
We have a traveling Centennial of
Flight exhibit arriving on Nov. 7 to be exhibited at the Discovery Center of
Idaho until Nov. 13. Saturday, Nov. 8 is to be the major day for the exhibit. DCI
has invited us to lead activities for children on Nov. 8 such as paper airplane
contests and discussions of various aspects of aviation and space. We need
volunteers to help with these activities both on Nov. 8 and during the
following week to represent our organization at the COF exhibit and answer
questions about our organization. Please contact me with the hours that you
can help on Nov. 8 (11:30 to 4) or during DCI hours Nov. 9 and 11 to 13.
The family of Sam Harpham designated
the Idaho Aviation Museum as the organization to which memorial donations could
be made. We have established a Sam Harpham Memorial Fund as a part of our
Museum building fund.
In response to a grant application
to the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory made in June the
IAM received $500 supporting the Centennial of Flight Celebration held Sep. 3
and recently an additional $495 that will be added to our Museum building fund.
The Board of Trustees has initiated
several efforts working toward the building of the Idaho Aviation Museum on our
leased property west of the Airport. These efforts include leveling and fencing
the property, obtaining aircraft for outdoor static display and investigating
the acquisition of temporary and/or portable structures that might be used as a
hangar. If you can help with any of these efforts or know of any potential
donors of materials and/or labor that could contribute to these efforts, please
contact me.
Our meetings schedule is as follows:
a. Monthly Board Meeting last
Wednesday of the month at noon at the Boise Airport Bruneau River conference
room (3rd floor of Rotunda area). Parking will be validated.
b. Executive Committee Meeting (all
members invited to attend) weekly on Wednesday (except last Wednesday of month)
at noon at Boise Air Service conference room at 4125 W. Wright St. west of the
Boise Airport Terminal.
These meetings are open to anyone
who would like to attend.
